In light of the global COVID-19 outbreak, the Hampton-Alexander Review has written to the FTSE 350 about the Review’s timeline for 2020.
We fully recognise the impact of the global COVID-19 outbreak on all business activities and priorities in the short-term, and are keen to alleviate additional pressure on business, as well as capture as much progress as possible in this final target year.
We will therefore be delaying the leadership gender data reporting date until 31st October 2020, with data submissions anticipated during November. We will keep this under review, depending on how the situation develops.

The Hampton-Alexander Review: FTSE 350 Leadership Gender Data Submission 2020
The Hampton-Alexander Review (the Review), which is an independent, business-led framework supported by the Government set recommendations in 2016 for FTSE 350 companies to improve the representation of women on their boards and in leadership positions. The Review set a minimum 33% target for women on FTSE 350 Boards and in the two layers of leadership below the board, the Executive Committee and the Direct Reports to the Executive Committee, by the end of 2020.
We would like to thank all companies who have worked hard to improve the gender balance of their boards and leadership teams in recent years. The collective business effort, learning and insights have been tremendous and fuelled progress in many forms. There are over 60 boards in the FTSE 100 that have already met or exceeded the 33% target – some significantly so – and around two thirds of all boards in the FTSE 350. Additionally, women now make up around 29% of all leadership roles in FTSE 350 companies.
Whereas the gender data on boards is readily accessible and taken from BoardEx and public records, the process for gathering gender data in the next senior leadership tiers is an annual process, whereby companies submit their own gender data via a secure portal on the Hampton-Alexander Review website. This would normally take place during the month of July, based on a 30th June snapshot reporting position. For 2020 it will be the snapshot position as at 31st October. Hence companies will be reporting on progress over a 16 month period, 1st July 2019 to 31st October 2020.

Accessing the Hampton-Alexander data collection portal
The portal will be open from 1 September 2020 for companies which are new to the FTSE 350 index and need to register for the first time, or any company that is already registered but needs to change their registered user details. It is also open for all companies wishing to log in and browse prior year’s data or the 2020 online form.
The portal will be open for all FTSE 350 companies to submit their 2020 leadership gender data from Monday 2 November until Monday 30 November 2020.
